MINISTERS CONFER.

A REPRESENTATIVE GATHERING

Following on a suggestion made by representative ministers of the Wairarapa some weeks ago, a conference of ministers was held in Masterton yesterday. Ministers came from Martinborough, Featherston, Greytown, Carterton, Eketahuna and Masterton, representing the Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregational Churches and Salvation Army. The proceeding's commenced at 11 a.m., with a service of worship in the Lansdowne Presbyterian Church. The Rev. G. King conducted the service and preached the sermon. At dinner the ministers were the guests of the Bev. W. Bullock.

The afternoon session began at 2 p.m. with the Rev. G. King in the chair. Several matters of business were discussed including the question ,of other such conferences. It was decided to meet again in Masterton in about six months’ time, the preacher for the occasion to be the Rev. E. W. Weymouth. The time was then devoted to addresses and a discussion on the subject of “Miracles and the Miraculous.” The ministers unanimously agreed that the conference was a happy arrangement and are of tho opinion that further conferences will lie of much value to them and the churches.
