SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. (“The Age” Special). The leaders for the points prizes of the Carterton Amateur Athletic Club to date are: Athletic events, N. Goodin, 37 points; B. Hurley, 34; P. Burgess, 30; T. Hart, 25; L. Hack, 24; W. IL Roberts, 14. Cycling events, L. Booth, 50; G, Anderson, 27; A. Downes, 22; L. Udy, 20. Boys’ cycling, C. Butler, 12 ;B. Gayfer, 8; S. Burgess, 6; W. Voting, fl. In the prizes, the club is offering a £2 2s trophy, Mr. C. A. Gray a gold medal, and Mr. C. K. Goodin a trophy for tho boys’ cycling events. Wedding. / / At St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, yesterday afternoon, Thelma Doreen, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Hodder, of Carterton, was married to Bertie Willinm, only son of Mr. and Mrs. IV. A. Renall, of Park vale. The bride was given away by her father, and was tastefully attired in a gown of ivory crepe de chine, accordeon pleated, with pearl effect, with the customary veil and orange blossoms, mob cap fashion, and carried a shower bouquet picked out with pink and mauve. The bridesmaids were Miss Connie Renall (sister of the bridegroom) and Mias May Hart, of Palmerston North, cousin of tho bride. The former wore a dress of apricot crepe de chene trimmed with cream lace, and the latter a frock of powder blue erepe de chene. Each had silver head bands, with posies to match. There were two little flower girls, Miss Audrey Williams, niece of the bridegroom, and Miss Jessie Jackson, cousin of the bridegroom. They wore frocks of pale lemon, marocain, trimmed with blue ribbon, and wore wreaths of flowers on their heads, and carried posies to tone. Mr. J. James was best man and Mr. K. Hodder groomsman. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Raine. A reception was held in St. Mark’s Parish Hall. The honeymoon is being spent in the south, the bride travelling in sage green crepe de chene with fawn trimmings, and navy tailor-made coat, fawn shoes and stockings, and hat to match. On their return they will reside at Parkvale. MAURICEVILLE. , . s (“The Age” Special.) Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Larsen and family returned last week from an enjoyable motor trip through Auckland and the East Coast districts. , At a meeting held yesterday afternoon a ladies’ hockey club was formed, and a team is to be placed on the field at the earliest possible moment. Welcome rain fell during last night. Household tanks arc again full and a good autumn growth is assured in tho fields. Rifle Shooting.
The conditions prevailing at tho trophy shoot on Saturday were not good. A strong varying light early in the match caused much annoyance, while a very tricky wind also made its presence felt and prevented good ■shooting. Following nre the scores:
A triangular competition with Alfredton and Nireaha takes place next Saturday.
