WAR RELIEF.
The fortnightly meeting of the Claims Board of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association was held in Masterton yesterday. Air. J. Af. Coradine presided, and Messrs R. R. Burridge, J. F. Hebcnton and D. AlcGregor were also present. Eleven cases occupied, the board’s attention, financial assistance being awarded to a number of applicants.
A Chamber of Commerce discussion of the half-holiday question is reported on page 6. In reply to a question at the Borough Co.uncil last evening the Mayor stated that the question of‘unemployment relief had not yet been considered as affecting the borough.
Heavy traffic fees collected in the Afasterton Borough during January amounted to £l7B, making a total of £1382 since April last, as against £992 for the whole .of last year.
At the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday, Air. F. Norris stated that the motor camping ground adjoining the Park should be available to the public by next week. The Motor Garage Association was building a fireplace and the P.I.AL Committee was putting up placards.

Aliss Constance Theel, G.S.AL, L.T.C.L., has vacancies for a limited number of pupils for instruction in elocution and dramatic art.
On Tuesday next. Commander Arthur Marsden, R.N., official lecturer to the Navy League in London, will lecture in St. Afat 4 Zew’’s Parish Hall.
Air. AV. 8. Heaps advertises for sale on the front page a four-cylinder fiveseater touring car in first-class order at exceptionally low price. Dancing enthusiasts will be interested to learn that an old Masterton Committee has been re-organised and will in future operate as the Star Assembly. To-day the balance of the stock-in-trade of Afasterton Engineering and Afachinery Co. will be sold by public auction without reserve.
In to-day’s issue the Railway Department advertise particulars of the issue of special cheap excursion tickets to Woodville on February 25 and 26. in connection with the Woodville races. These tickets are,nt a very cheap rate. Attention is also drawn to the running of the '6.4ft a.m. Alasterton-AVoodvillo and 6.45 p.m. Wo6<!ville-ATastert '■! trains in place of the usual 10.0 -j.; . Masterton-AVoodville and 2.25 p.m. Woodvillc-Alasterton trains on February 25.
