A report presented to the council of the Co-operative Butter and Cheese Factories’ Association states that tho gain to farmers in Australia from the Paterson stabilisation plan has been about £2,000,000. After paying the bounty of 3d per pound on. all butter exported the committees had a sufficient balance in hand to make a rebate to manufacturers of 7 l-16d per pound on butter, which would amount to £420,000. The council agreed that it was imperative that the duty On New Zealand butter bo increased to 6d per lb and 6d per lb on cheese, with a corresponding increase under the .general tariff.—(P.A.).
