HAILSTORM IN TASMANIA.

HEAVY DAMAGE TO CROPS.

(Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) HOBART, February 20.

A hailstorm swept the midlands of the Derwent Valley, Hobart, and the Huon district. It was accompanied by torrential rain, which swept the main shopping thoroughfares of Hobart. Extensive damage was done, both in country and city. In the country districts, hop and apple crops suffered severely. -(P-A.)
