PROFESSIONAL TENNIS
“BOUND TO GROW.”
AMBITIOUS PLANS OUTLINED. RIVALLING WIMBLEDON. (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.). LONDON, February 18. The “Daily Express” says Suzanne Lenglen is expected in London shortly to discuss financial details and to stage a series of tennis matches in which she will play in England. The promoters are planning that first Suzanne will play twice daily at the Albert Hall, amd afterwards a series of games in every large ittwn in Britain, then in all European capitals. The promoter declares that professional tennis is bound to grow and that shortly there will be professional tennis championships in every country. If he could arrange that the final be played in London, it would be at least equal to Wimbledon as an attraction. He added: “We want Mrs. Godfrey, the only woman in the world who ever worried Suzanne, to become a professional.”—(A. and N.Z.)
