RECORD TAKINGS.

WEIGHT-GUESSING AT THE SHOW THE PRIZE-WINNERS. One of the records set at this week’s Masterton Show was in the amount of money taken in the weight-guessing competitions. The total sum realised in this way was £ll3 Ils—£l3 10s more than the corresponding amount last year. The weight of the competition bullock was 596 lbs. Guesses ranged from 32 lbs. to 1008} lbs, The following eight persons guessed the correct weight and divide the prize money: F. W. Oakdcn (Masterton), C. Palliser (Whareama), T. Reid (Clarcville), Jas. McKenzie (To Whiti), H. G Groves (Tinui), Mrs. W. O. Wilton (Maungahuia), Mrs. F. Major (Masterton), and Nurse Herbert (Public Hospital, Masterton). This left three ladies for the wristlet watch, and in a ballot Nurse Herbert was the winner. The weight of the three sheep was 1411 lbs. (lamb, 28} lbs. and two 2-tooth ewes respectively 54 and 58Jlbs). Guessing ranged from 67 lbs. to 475 lbs. The following eleven persons guessed the correct weight and divide the prize money: Adam McKay, E. M. Meredith, F E. Jansen (Carterton), R. Morris (Te Ore Ore), Mrs. W. B. Gaskin, Mr. R S. McKay (East Taratahi), J. R. Timson, E. G. Dobson (Palmerston North). J. Olsen (Hamui), W. H. Robicson, J. Betty. The bullock was presented by Mr. Geo. Shaw, and two sheep by Mr. L. R. Wilton and the lamb by Mr. T. V. Caverhill.
