THE Wairarapa Age MORNING DAILY. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 1926. THE BOROUGH ROLL.
A word to the wise is said to be sufficient, but where matters of electoral enrolment are concerned many people are not as wise as they should be. In spite of all the publicity that is given nowadays to the fact that rolls are open for the inclusion of the names of electors, each polling day produces its flock of more or less angry and disappointed peopic who thought they were on the roll but find that they are not. This sort of thing would not happen, of course, if people w'ere as methodical about the important business of enrolment as most of them are about giving an order to the butcher or the grocer. In these days of excellent electoral machinery electors who find themselves left off th? roll nearly always haV6 tliemselvAs to thank.
Tho.facts that need attention at the moment are stated in another column A municipal election falls due in April next, and electors who wish to vote must enrol by the end of next month. Some people, no doubt, will regard the matter as one of distant concern that can be attended to by and by, and will forget all about it. Those who do this should not complain on polling day. It is an important point, and one some people overlook, that the Municipal Roll is altogether separate and distinct from the Parliamentary Roll. The only way to be sure of a vote on polling day is to see that your name is on the roll.
