THE KARITANE APPEAL.

Masterton people to-day will be asked t.o make their contribution to the funds that are being raised throughout the province in order to clear the Karitane Hospital at Wellington of debt. The merits of the appeal are well summed up in the advertised statement: “A Karitane Hospital in your province means that every little sick baby stands a better chance of being made well.” The fact should be grasped that the existence of a well-found Karitane Hospital at Wellington represents a great and benefit to the whole province. Wonderful work has been done in Karitane hospitals in different parts of the Dominion in restoring to full health infants wljo could not have been saved in any other way. These hospitals are, as it were, the hub of the magnificent organisation the Plunket Society has built up in this country. Wellington has been rather slow in acquiring one of these centres from which to spread abroad the gospel of good health for mothers and infants. Now that the deficiency has been made good, people in this district and throughout the Wellington. province should be ready and willing to do their part by contributing to the cost of the new hospital. No appeal could be made in a better cause than that of safeguarding the health of mothers and, infants.
