FOR THE SANDERS CUP.
BETTY WINS AGAIN. RONA SECURES THE FOURTH RACE. CHRISTCHURCH, February 15. Betty won the third race for the Sanders Cup this morning, beating Avalon by a quarter of a mile. Bona was third, and Murihiki fourth. Winifred did not finish and Peggy retired after fouling the Rona at the top buoy in the first round. Rona won the fourth race this afternoon after a most exciting finish. In the fifth race, to be sailed tomorrow morning, only the winners of the previous races, Betty, Avalon, and Rona will compete.—(P.A.). CORNWELL CUP. The third race for the Cornwell Cup this morning was won by Sea Pearl (Auckland), with Winsome (Hawke’s Bay) second. Gadfly (Wellington) won the race very easily by 7| minutes, but was disqualified for fouling a buoy. In the fourth race this afternoon Gadfly for tho fourth time crossed, the line first. Her superiority makes it certain that the crew drawing this boat is sure of a win. Auckland has now two wiijs, Southland one, and Hawke’s Bay one. Otago has drawn the Gadfly for to-morrow marning’s race.—(P.A.).
