INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITS.
G. H. PERRY AND CO. The firm’s display this year is devoted exclusively to an exhibition of grain and small seeds and it is the most comprehensive the firm has yet made. It is"vcry attractively arranged and farmers will find much to interest them to-day in inspecting the varied range of seeds. In addition there are photographs of growing crqps, including that of the winning swede crop of the Wairarapa for 1925 and .1926. This competition it will be remembered, was conducted by the Farmers’ Union. W.F.C.A. LTD. The display made by the Furnishing Department of the W.F.C.A. was the centre of a good deal of attraction yesterday and the whole exhibition reflects great credit on the firm. An outstanding feature of the display is an exceptionally artistic bedroom suite in grey ash. Built on the Sheridan design and beautifully finished with wellbalanced arrangements of parts, v this suite cannot fail to command attention. Tastefully arranged around the central item and in full harmony with it, are pieces of furniture which make an irresistible appeal to ail those who admire beauty of handiwork and skilful execution of detail. A splendid oak table, with cabriole legs, and chairs to match, contributes to the excellence of the display. A smart tea-waggon, highly-finished in oak, is also a very attractive and distinctive piece of furniture. The whole of the furniture included in the display was manufactured in the W.F.C.A. furniture factory* and reflects great credit on the craftsmanship of their staff. ’ Included in the exhibition is a fine range of Axminster carpets, supported by very pleasing shadow tissue drapings.
HYDRO ELECTRIC AND SHEEPSHEARING MACHINES. The exhibit of the latest Lister Electric Shearing Set will be of great interest to Sheep-farmers, who have the Hydro-Electric power connected or available. This is driven by a 400-volt three-phase A.C. Motor of British manufacture and of h.p. It is fitted with the well-known Lister Friction Drive, and in and out gear similar to the Lister Standard Plant. With the motor running continuously there is no delay or waiting, the machine starting at full speed instantly it is put into gear. Core and tube, etc., are of Standard pattern. A great feature of this plant is the pprovision made for using the Standard type of single or double-ended Grinder. The Latest Lister Electric Semi-portable Shearing Plant is hlso exhibited and should appeal to the smaller farmers. TetNTK AND CO., LTD. The firm’s display is devoted to a unique exhibition of Sutton’s seeds, cereals and grasses. From every point of view the exhibition is most interesting and instructive and gives one an idea of the extensive nature of Sutton’s business. Photographs show the growing and packing of seeds for New Zealand trade. There is also a fine local-ly-grown tomato vine with 44 tomatoes in all stages from green to ripe. Levin and Co. are also showing the famous local lime, manure and seed-sower, which is proving so popular in the district; also a combined tripod and chain harrows —all of British manufacture. W.F.C.A. LTD. Farmers yesterday were keenly interested with the produce display made by this firm. An extensive range of all stock and station requisites is on view and very attractively arranged. Of special interest is a most unique exhibition of all the raw materials used in the composition of their mixed manures, which have shown such great results in the Wairarapa in producing fattening pastures. The display is most interesting and instructive to all progressive farmers who desire to get the best results from their land. The demonstrations given, showing the requirements of the various soils cause quite a lot of interest. There is also a big range of Webb’s seeds and growing samples showing germination. NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO., LTD. A most pleasing display is that of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and the general arrangement is a credit to the firm. All requisites for the farm and station are shown to advantage, including McDougall’s dips, EJmshurst teas, Cross’s root seeds, all kinds of grass seeds, Goodyear tyres, Melanoid paints, Hinemoa creosote, and other lines too numerous to mention, but of special interest to all farmers. NEW ZEALAND FARMERS’ CO-OP. DISTRIBUTING CO., LTD. This year the firm is to the front with an exhibition, the range of which cannot fail to attract attention. A portion of their display is devoted entirely to English Dunlop tyres, the effect of which is greatly enhanced by a yellow and black colour scheme. The exhibit includes a fine range of Shell, Big Tree, Mobiloil, and Autoline oils, Faterine calf food, Ceylon tea, Penguin grass seeds, Cooper’s seeds, Little’s and Cooper's dips, Viking separators, etc. Mention should also be made of the Independent lime and manure distributor.
RADIO RECEPTION CO. LTD. Wireless enthusiasts will find much to interest them at this stand. The firm are specialising in Gilfillan and Browning-Drake sets. The popularity of the former set is too well known to need comment. The latter set is the latest scientific product and is outstanding for long distance reception. One of the Gilfillan sets on view is a similar model to one which is nightly receiving American stations at loudspeaker strength. The firm will shortly be landing a consignment of low-priced efficient receiving sets. There is also a full range of Braude’s loud speakers and Bright Star batteries. The Radio Reception Co. is a local concern, under the management of Mr. W. D. Ansell, formerly of the Engineering Staff of the Masterton Post Office. Mr. T. Bryn, the firm’s representative, will be pleased to demonstrate any sets on application.
BALL BROS. The firm are the sole Wairarapa agents for the Centaur tractor and implements. The Centaur is a machine eminently suitable for the farm, orchard and garden work. It will work almost any class of country and is giving very satisfactory results wherever tried. The firm will be pleased to supply the fullest information on application.
