(“The Age” Special.) The competitions at the Carterton swimming baths on Monday evening resulted:—Ladies Race, 25 yards: Miss Dick 1, Miss Earl 2. Time, 19 see. Five competed. At the Dannevirke Ram Fair, Mr. T. Reid, of Clareville, disposed of three pens of flock Southdown rang, topping the market. Bowling. Carterton teams for the Booth Cup and Shield Competition on Saturday will be:—At home: Aplin, Barber, Har’, Hall (s); Hughan, De Lacey, Fisher, Masson (s). At Greytown: ‘ Churchill, Feast, Dykes, Harp (s); Smith, Tucker, Hansen, Whyte (s). In the junior pairs of the Carterton Club, Foster and Savill defeated Barlow and Tinsley, 20/18. In the pairs championship, Hart and Hall defeated Masson and Fisher 25/16. The members of the Carterton Bowling Club are having their bowls officially tested at Wellington on Thursday. Racing Club. The stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club met at Featherston on Monday afternoon. Leave of absence was granted Mr. C. Elgar during his visit to England. The catering committee is to report on the mode of supplying picnickers with hot water on race days. The kitchen in the outside stand, is to be overhauled, and furniture purchased for the general renovation of the trainers ”*quarters on the course. The Greytown Presbyterian Church Committee thanked the club for the use of the course for their picnic, and the caretaker for his kind assistance. Messrs. W. E. Bidwill and W. Howard Booth were nominated to represent the district at the New Zealand Racing Conference, and Messrs* W. E. Bidwill and J. W. Card were appointed to represent the club on the District Committee. Arrangements are to be made for the racecourse grounds to be photographed in sections for advertising purposes. It was decided to procure a tractor for work on the course in place of horses.

FEATHERSTON. -MW (“The Age” Special.) Mr. Milnor, late of the local Post Office staff, left for Hokitika on Monday afternoon. Previous to his departure he w T as presented with a fountain pen by the members of the Featherston staff. The of the Featherston branch of the Plunket Society acknowledges with thunks a donation of £2OO to the Plunket Karitane appeal by Mrs. D. H. S. Riddiford.

Members of the Featherston Croquet Club arc to be challengers for the McKenzie Wristlets and Pollock Stars, and will play in Wellington next week. Swimming Carnival.

Although the weather on Tuesday w r as not so favourable to swimmers as it has been, there was a large number of entrants in a school swimming carnival held at the local baths under the direction of Miss McDonald and Mr. Bishop, of the Featherston School staff. Great interest was taken in all the events by the many spectators present, and the performance of the competitors in the race for those who had only learnt to swim this season w r as particularly creditable. The championship medals presented by Miss Card were won by Miss A. McKenzie and L. Nicie. The events resulted as follows:—
