COUNTY AFFAIRS.
MEETING OF MAURICEVILLE COUNCIL. JOINT BY-LAWS ADOPTED. There was a full attendance of councillors at a meeting 'of the Mauriceville County Council on Saturday, the chairman, Councillor R. Judd, presided. The financial statement disclosed a credit balance of £964 13s sd. Receipts for the month totalled £1443 Os 9d and payments, £530 13s Id. Accounts passed, for payment totalled £399 6s 9a. Joint by-laws for counties as passed by a meeting of delegates were adopted, and the chairman and secretary were authorised to seal by-laws on confirmation. Councillor Bennett was appointed additional delegate for the purposes of tho joint by-laws. A resolution was passed providing for maintenance of Dagg’s Road after metalling as required by the Public Works Department. The clerk was directed to call the attention of tt.e inspector for stock to the growth of blackberry on the native reserve at Ha st well. The chairman was authorised to accept the tender for metalling a portion of Dagg’s Road ut his discretion.
Councillor Miller was deputed to visit the Public Works Department with Mr. Falkner, to confer upon the reconstruction of Dryer’s Rock Road Bridge. The clerk was directed to write to a settler requesting him to cut back growth of trees obstructing the view of a roadway. A circular was received from tho Department of Health enclosing regulations to provide against an epidemic of influenza.
