FLOODS IN QUEENSLAND.

SERIOUS DAMAGE. A HEAVY DEATH ROLL. (Received Monday, 7.50 a.m.) BRISBANE, February 14. Floods continue unabated in Northern Queensland; Sevente’en are known do have perished and others are missing. It is expected that the death roll will be largely increased. The Postmaster at Ingham says that several houses were washed bodily away. In one of these three men were carried three days before -being rescued. The water in the main street of Ingham is six feet deep. Damage amounts to not less than £lOO,OOO. A food shortage is feared. Supplies are being rationed. The main streets of Cairns are several feet under water. Tremendous seas are running and there are great quantities of timber afloat miles out at sea.— (P.A.)
