SANDERS CUP RACE.
AVALON WINS SECOND HEAT. A TACTICAL VICTORY. CHRISTCHURCH, February 14. Avalon won .the second race for the Sanders Cup by eight seconds after a most exciting finish. The wind dropped as the bobts were running with spinnakers out to the finishing line, and Betty was becalmed. Avalon, further out from the shore, carried' more wind and caught a puff which carried her in a winner. The Hawke’s Bay men had sailed a splendid race and' fully deserved their win.— (P.A.)
