THE SHOW
OPENING DAY AT SOLWAY. A FULL PROGRAMME. GOOD ENTRIES FOR RAM FAIR. To-day and to-morrow, all roads will lead to Solway. Alth-ofugh the weather outlook at time of writing is a little uncertain, conditions generally make for a highly popular and successful Show. All arrangements are working smoothly, and it only remains for the public to attend in full strength and make the most of this great annual fair. Judges and other visitors who are acquainted, with showgrounds in all parts of the Dominion are speaking with the utmost admiration of Solway and declaring that no* more beautiful grounds are to be found, anywhere in the Dominion. It is now a matter of familiar knowledge that record entries have been received this year and that the display of stock promises to be the best ever seen at an autumn show in the North Island. AH the most successful breeders are displaying the pick of their flocks. The general public will find plenty to interest them at the show on both days, but particularly on 41 People’s Day,” when the ring events should prove exceptionally attractive. The beautiful bush makes the showgrounds an ideal spot for a picnic, and this attraction is added to by the supplying of hot water free. Special trains will run to and from tho Show at intervals to suit patrons from north and south. A large number of side shows should add to the gaiety of the scene at the showgrounds. Exceptionally good entries have been received for the ram fair on Thursday and Friday, February 17 and 18, and record prices are anticipated, judging from the quality of the stock entered.
Mr. R. H. Williams (secretary, Box 40, Masterton), will be pleased to supply information regarding the Show or ram fair and accommodation at Masterton during Show week. Arrangements for the parking of cars have been altered/ this year. All south traffic will enter the grounds via the road leaving the main road at the Old Men’s Home and forming the southern boundary of the Showgrounds, and will park in the space off the southeast corner behind the grandstand. Northern traffic will park as usual inside the main gates.
