BUILDING SOCIETIES.

WORKERS’ MUTUAL BENEFIT, No. 1. MEETING OF DIRECTORS. A meeting of directors of the Workers’ Mutual Benefit No. 1 Building Society was held las: evening. There were present: Messrs. R. Krahagen (chairman), G. Hyde, 11. 0. Fowles, and T. S. Cresswell. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £1397 15s lid. The llutt County Council advised that no valuation- were at present

available of the Te Alarua Estate, Upper Hutt.

No. 2 SOCIETY. At a meeting of directors of the No. 2 Society, there were present: Alessrs. R. Krahagen (chairman), G. Hyde, H. O. Fowles,. T. S. Cresswell, A. W. McKenzie, A.-J. Briden, J. A. Russell a,nd A. H. Eddy. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £2937 Is Bd. An application for s two shares was granted.. The recommendations of the Valuation Committee approving a property as security for an advance of £4OO and agreeing to- a progress payment of £3OO, and recommending final payment of £lOO on a Lansdowne property and another property for an additional mortgage of £593 were adopted. The Workmen’s Friend Building Society forwarded a copy of a letter received from the Minister of Finance in reference to 1 appropriations being accepted in reduction of State mortgages. It was decided to hold a ballot and sale for £BOO in March. Accounts totalling 18s were passed.
