SHOW MANAGEMENT.
WAIRARAPA P. AND A. SOCIETY. GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETS. (‘‘The Age” Speeial). The general committee of the Waira rapa P. and A. Society met at Carter ton on Saturday, Mr. M. McLeod presiding.
The treasurer reported bank overdraft £2OlO, plus deposit, £lOOO, total, £3OlO 4s lOd. Receipts for the month £36 Is 2d. Accounts amounting to £75 16s Id were passed for payment. Mr. J. Fisher was appointed to select the committee’s team for the annual tug-of-war team at the Masterton Show on February 16, with the Masterton Show Committee.
The New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association asked for the co-operation of the society in making it a condition of entry in the purebred pig classes, that the animals must be eligible for or entered in the New Zealand Herd Book. The Auckland A. and P. Association asked for support to the following *esolution, flnd to forward same to the Minister of Lands: “That this meeting cdnslJeh that a board of enquiry should be set up forthwith to ascertain the conditions which are preventing the profitable working of the land already in occupation and retarding the settlement and utilisation of the undeveloped land of New Zealand with a view to their removal.”—Received. Mr. W. C. Deller tendered his resignation as a member of the committee, which was not accepted.
Messrs E. Eagle, J. Fisher, C. Reid, J. Hodder, J. C. Harp, and P. Bain were appointed to assist the Ponatahi Sports Club in their forthcoming sports njeeting. The New Zealand Showmen’s Association asked for first consideration when the policy of running night shows was under consideration.—Noted. One new member was elected.
