MEDICAL CONGRESS ENDS.

MOST SUCCESSFUL YET HELD. DUNEDIN, February 10. The Medical Congress concluded this morning with a general meeting of members. All agree that the congress was the most successful yet held in Australia or New Zealand. One of the most important events of the congress was a cinematograph demonstration by Dr. N. D. Royle (Sydney) of his operatic® of ramiseption, by which it is possible to restore the power of persons suffering from spastic form of paralysis by dividing the bundle of fibres* spoken of as the white rami, leading to the affected limb. Medical men present described the cures as miraclous. Dr. J. F. Macxeddie (Melbourne) demonstrated new work in diseases of the nervous system by the injection of fluids into the spinal canal. The fluid was arrested at the site- of any tumour which might be present in or around the spinal cord. Under X-rays the fluid was opaque and the tumour could be seen. Several neurologists spoke enthusiastically in regard to the value of this new method of diagnosis. A plea for stimulation of interest in problems of pathology of lower animals in relation to problems of human disease was made by Dr Lionel B. Bull (Adelaide).

Dr. A. J. Hall contributed an interesting paper on changes which took place as a result of penetrating wounds of the eyeball.—(P.A.).
