Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: —The Martinborough Ewe Fair was held yesterday and a full yarding of sheep came forward. This fair is always of special interest, for usually a reliable standard of values for subsequent sales is set, and it is also regarded as one of the leading £ales in the district in the matter of the quality of the ewes offered, and this year’s entry emphasised this fact, *for the whole of the yarding was notably good. There was a large attendance of buyers present, although it was noticeable that no outside buyers were operating. The two-tooth ewes, as usual at this fair, were exceptionally good and elicited keen competition. The demand for older sheep was not so keen, and it was apparent that buyers were not ouF to* pay big prices, but most of the lines changed hands at sound values. We made a total clearance as follows'— Account A. B. Martin, 4 and 5-year ewes, 16/6; ac. V/. J. Martin, 4-year ewes 17/9; ac. W. B. Martin, m.a. ewes 15/-; ac. M.
