HEAVY CYCLONE.
QUEENSLAND COAST SWEPT. STRICKEN AREA ISOLATED. (Received Thursday. 8.25 p.m.) BRISBANE. February 10. A terrific cyclone swept the coastal districts north of Townsville. All telegraphic communication with the stricken districts are severed and the only means of communication is by wireless through a steamer at Cairnß. The cyclone was of extraordinary velocity. Miles of telegraph poles are down. No trains left Cairns to-day, as all lines are blacked. Until communications are restored with the inland districts, it will be impossible to estimate the damage.—(P.A.)
