HIGH COMMISSIONER’S.REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated. February 5, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — BUTTER. Market steady and demand is good for lower grades. Official quotations are:— New Zealand: Finest salted, 172/ to 174/ per cwt (1/64 per lb); unsalted. .182/ to 184/ per cwt (1/74 to 1/7} per lb); other qualities, 106/ to 168/ per cwt (1/ 5} to 1/6 per lb); finest 166/ to 168/ per cwt (1/5} to 1/6 per lb). Australian: Salted, 166/ to 170/ per cwt (1/5J to 1/0} per lb); unsalted, 170/ to 174/ per cwt. (1/0} to l/6£ per Hi); other qualities, 150/ to 104/ per cwt (1/4 to 1/54 per lb). Argentine: Unsalted, 150/ to 162/ per cwt (1/44 to 1/5} per lb); other qualities, 148/ to 154/ per cwt (1/3} to 1/44 per lb). Danish: 188/ per cwt (1/8 per lb). CHEESE. Demand steady and market firmer, particularly for lower grades. Official quotations arc:— English: Finest farmers, 108/ to 112/ per cwt (114 d to 1/ per lb). Canadian: Finest coloured and white, 98/ to 100/ per cwt. (104 d to IC'ld per lb); exceptional, 102/ per cwt (10}d per lb); other qualities, 95/ to 96/ per cwt (lOd to 10}d per lb).--. New Zealand: Celouded, 94/ to 95/ per cwt (lOd to 10}d per lb); white, 93/ to 94/ per cwt (9}d to lOd per lb); other qualities, 92/ to 93/ per cwt (9}d per lb), Australian? Coloured, 92/ to 93/ per cwt. (9}d per lb); other qualities, 90/ to 92/ per cwt (94d to 9}d per lb). Estimated cheese stocks at London, Liverpool and Bristol. on February 1, Canadian and American 77,800 boxes, Australian and New Zealand 127,750 crates against 90,200 boxes and 78,650 crates same time last year. HEM.F. ' ; Manila market opens steady and “J” grade February-April shipments sold at £47. Decline during this week, value at close £45 10/. Sisal market steady, but only small business doing. Value Tanganyika No. 1 FebruaryApril shipments £4O 10/. New Zealand m®rket quiet. Nominal values are highpoints, February-April shipments, £36, fair £35, common £34. TALLOW. Market quiet with tendency to weaken. Prices same as last quotation except for mutton, dark, to dull, 34/6 to 35/6 per cwt; beef, dark to du11,~34/ to 34/6 per cwt; mixed, dark to dull, 33/6 to 34/6 per cwt; gut,-etc., 32/ to 33/6 per cwt.
