BOY ENVELOPED IN FLAMES.
A NARROW ESCAPE.
AUCKLAND, February 7.
A narrow escape from loss of life by fire, occurred at the residence of J. Wilkins, Mount Albert, this morning. Mrs. Wilkins was preparing breakfast in the kitchen when she- heard screams coming from the washhouse and rushed out to find her son Ray, aged two years, enveloped in flames. The boy was removed to hospital suffering from Severe burns to the arms and legs. Before the outbreak, a fire had been kindled in the copper grate and it is surmised that either the child wps playing witft it or a spark flew out. Considerable damage was done by the fire,-which spread to the kitchen before it was subdued.—(P.A.).
