RIFLE SHOOTING
INTER-CLUB COMPETITION. MASTERTON WIN SHIELD. FEATHERSTON BEATEN BY FOUB POINTS. A team representing the MastertonOpaki Rifle Club journeyed to Featherston on Saturday afternoon to contest the inter-club shield, which the Featherston Rifle Club has hold against all comers for the last two years. The conditions of the match were seven shots and an optional sighter at 300 yards, 500 yards and 600 yards for teams of ten men. Shooting conditions were good, with sufficient wind to keep shooters on the alert and to temper the fierce heat of the sun. After a dose and exciting match, Masterton proved the winners by the narrow margin of four points. At the conclusion of the shooting Deputy-President Nix presented the shield to President R. J. King. President King suitably replied. The details of the shooting are:— MASTERTONOPAKI.
