Mr. 0. C. Jackson (Provincial President) returned yesterday from Wellington where ho attended a meeting of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union.
Mother Getrude, of Pahiatua Convent, and formerly of Masterton, underwent a serious operatifon at Pahiatua yesterday morning. She is doing as well as can be expected. The marriage took place at the Methodist Church, Hastings, on January 21, pf Aliss Airini Heighway, eldest daughter of Airs R. Heighway and the late Air. Heighway, and Mr. Archibald Tunnieliffe, son of Air. C. Tunnicliffe, late of Dalefield.
Air. George Scudder, eighty-five years of age, died in the Afastertoh Hospital last evening. He had resided in the Wairarapa for many years, formerly being employed on stations in the district. Latterly he had resided in Totara Street, Lansdowne. Ho had been in failing health for some time past.
A resolution of appreciation of the services of Mr. W. B. Alatheson was passed by the executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union on Wednesday, together with the wish that he would thoroughly enjoy the extended holiday upon which he has just embarked. AL embers spoke particularly of the valuable work ho did as acting-presi-dent during Air. Polson’s absence abroad. The funeral of the late Air. James Robicson, senr., a well-known and highly respected resident of the Wairarapa for a great number of years, took place in Alasterton yesterday. There was a large attendance of mourners and numerous beautiful wreaths were received. Services at the residence and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. W. Bullock. The pall-bearers -were four grandsons of the deceased gentleman.
The friends of Air. Herbert G. Vibent will regret to hear of his death, which occurred at the Masterton Hospital yesterday afternoon. He was admitted to the institution a few days ago and underwent a serious operation, from which he never rallied. The late Mr. Vibert had resided for many years in Alasterton, and was forty-five years o. age. He leaves ten children—seven sons and three daughters. The funera; will leave the residence, Akura, at 2.30 p. to-morrow.
