DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL

COMMITTEE MEETING

The last ordinary meeting of the Masterton District High School Committee was held last night. Mr. R. Brown was in the chair, and there were al.-o present Messrs B. E. Church, A. Hendry, J. McV. Calwcll, F. T. Redman, and W. Nicol. On the motion of Mr. Redman, it w.-s decided to record upon the minutes the hearty appreciation of the long and faithful services of Mr. B. Brown, extending -over more than eighteen years, lie having been a member of the Masterton School Committee since before 1902, the greater part of which time he had ably occupied the position of chairman of committee. All members present spoke in very ccrdial terms in support of the resolution, and expressed the hope that Mr. Brown's services would be retained for the benefit of education for some considerable time to come. Mr. Brown expressed his appreciation of the felicitious remarks made, and thanked the Committee for its past support. Mr. Brown stated that he would be always ready to do what he could to assist the Committee in any way, although he would be ineligible for nomination for the Masterton ftchool Committee owing to the recent alteration of the boundaries of the local school districts.

Accounts amounting to £23 lis 8d were passed for payment.
