Constable T'scher, of Gisborne, has been appointed to the charge of the Pongaroa police station. Mr. Crief Smith, of Moumahaki State Farm, has been appointed to the Fields Department, Wellington. Mr. E. Ittchards, ox the . W.F.C.A., Masterton, is leaving to-day by the Manuka on -a visit to Sydney.

A Sydney "cablegram announces the death of the Rev. Father Tighe, who had frequently visited New Zealand. Mr J. A. Bevan, of the Masterton staff of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has been transferred to Hawera. The death occurred at Wellington recently of Mr John Williamson, an old identity of Masterton, who was employed for some time on Brancepeth station.
