Late., on Friday afternoon last much concern was occasioned at tho Maori pa near the railway station at Waitotara, by reaaon of the fact that a wahine with tho snows of eighty winters on her head had strayed away and could not be found. In spite of a diligent search by tho Natives, nothing could .be seen of her on Friday night. Whether the old lady thought it was time to commence the ascent to Te Reinga or not is not certain, but it is a fact that she started off up the steep incline along the railway line going north. Like Longfellow's '' Excelsior,'' she found tho path of ambition steep and toilsome. When the morning train from Wanganui came along on Saturday morning, the old lady was discovered placidly sleeping beside the railway line almost a mile and a half up the steep ascent. A trolley was called into requisition, and tho aged wanderer was returned to the shelter of the kaianga.—Wanganui Chronicle. , .
