DISASTROUS TORNADO
- FIFTEEN PEOPLE KILLED.
(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian-NJZ. Cable Association.) Received Last Night, 10.30 o'clock. NEW YORK, March 29. , A tornado forty miles from Chicago O'ty, killed more than fifteen persons and injured'soo others. Millions of dollars'worth of property have been damaged.
MUCH DAMAGE REPORTED.
Received Last. Jfight, 10.20 o'clock. NEW YORK, March 29. More than ten suburbs of Chicago were virtually wrecked by the tornado which demolished rows of br'ck houses, blew, trying off the tracks, swept automobile..into the fields, killed thirtyfive 'people and injured 500. The'-lighting system in many of these suburbs were destroyed. , Thousands of people are homeless. .The military was called in to undertake rescue work and prevent looting. Heavy rain'and a hailstorm followed the tornado, which it is estimated did. ten Bullion dollars worth of damage.
