Carterton.

The proposal of the P. and A. Society to erect commodious offices of its own is meeting with encouraging support, the guarantee list being sought after by enterprising members of the Association. Mr. Henry Croad, of Palmerston North, was in Carterton yesterday to attend the funeral of his grandson, who was accidentally-killed on Saturday afternoon. Although defeated by Masterton on Saturday for the Walrarapa ChampionShip, the Carterton cricketers are not downhearted. Their position in the fixture was duo to the loyalty of the players to their club, many sacrificing considerably more than 4 they could afford to meet engagements with other clubs. This spirit needs encouraging in other branches of Bport if success is to be the objective. The Carterton Cricket Club is to be complimented upon the position it attained! The executors of Deller's Estate notify that their premises will be closed on Friday, Saturday, and Monday for the Easter holidays. A reminder is given of the sale of town property to bd held tp-day by Mr. G. A. Fairbrother on behalf of the Public Trustee. The annual meeting of the Daleiield Football Club is to be held on Wednea day evening.
