A MODEL TOWNSHIP
SOUTH OF MASTERTON.
Tho Wellington Farmers' Meat Company, as announced in the Age last week, has purchased an area of thirty acres of land this side of the. Waingawa bridge, upon which to establish a model township for employees of the firm. The land was formerly owned by Messrs Judd Bros., and more recently by Mr. James McKenzie. Tho directors of tho. firm have entrusted Mr, Sam. Sinclair, the supervisor of the Company's building scheme, with tho task of laying out tho township > on tho lines of English garden cities. It.is.proposed to cut up the land—which is bounded by thrco roads, into quarter-aero sections, with Btreets conveying on ,to a central recreation ground of five acres. The latter will contain, a lawn tennis court, and cricket and football grounds, and will be planted with flowers, shrubs, and trees. It is also proposed to make provision for a band rotunda. The township, when completed, will contain about eight residences, each with from five to six rooms. The land is being surveyed immediately for roading . purposes.
