THE HOUSING PROBLEM.

A conference held in Wellington has passed a series, of resolutions, demanding greater activity in the provision of homes for the people, and that emigration be stopped until those already here are provided for. The first demand will meet with general approval. The latter, however, will not be so freely endorsed. There is ample ..provision in the Dominion for immigrants of the right class, namely, domestic servants, farm labourers, navvies, and single carpenters and miners. To stop immigration entirely would be t° seriously impede the progress of our internal development.
