TURKS OVERAWED.
By Presence of Allies*
DANGEROUS NATIONALIST FERMENT. (By Electric Telegraph.—Oopyright.) (Australian-N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, March 19. Tho Australian Press Association learns that Constantinople is tranquil. Tho city is awed by the presence of tho Allied troops, who are mainly British, and by the capture of Djemal, Djevad, and Kemal Pashas, in addition to other agitators. Immediate danger arises in connection with nationalist outbreaks, which are anticipated in different parts of tho Empire, particularly in Asia Minor, similar to that in Adrianople. There is no doubt that Jaffcr Atyar will then carry out his intention of establishing an independent Government in order to resist the Treaty. It is probable that the Greeks will be employed to quell the trouble in Adrianople and elsewhere in Thrace, in accordance with an agreement, which is understood to have been reached during the visit Of M. Venizelos to London last week. It is known that 90,000 Greek soldiers arc in readiness, and, although there have been recent pro-Constantine demonstrations, there is little doubt the troops will prove loyal to the Government when they are faced by taejr hereditary enemy.
