A London cable states that the late Lord Astor'a estate has been sworn at £421,963. Mr. W. Cecil Prime, of Napier, has been appointed secretary to the New Zealand Gun Clubs' Association. The many friends of Mr. A. W. Cave, of Masterton, will regret to hear that he is at present in a very low state of health. Mr. A. J. Wellß, an esteemed Kahutara settler, has disposed of his property, arid will be leaving the district at an early date. Messrs A. T. Dickason, R. Rigg, W. J. Tennent, W. Rigg, and Evans were elected members of the Masterton Progressive League yesterday. It is the intention of Mr .H. Holland, the ex-Mayor of Christchurch, who is at present visiting Masterton, to visit Carterton and Martinborough before he returns to the South. Mr. D. J. B. Seymour, who has been in Masterton during the past few days in connection with the formation of a branch of the Workers' Educational Association, leaves for the north today. Mr. W. T. Grundy, of Masterton, was appointed chairman of the economics class of the Masterton branch of the Workers' Educational Association, at last night's meeting. Mr. F. Cunningham was elected secretary to the class.
