FARMERS ' UNION
CARTERTON BRANCH,
The ■ usual monthly meeting of the Carterton branch of the Farmers' Union was held in tho P. and A. Rooms, Carterton, on Saturday afternoon last. Mr. James Hoddor presided over an attendance of about thirty members. Mr. D. Hebenton, the Wairarapa organiser, was also present. The meeting decided to again request the Government to publish the names of the known agents of the American Meat Trust. The information was in the hands of the Government, and Mr. Hebonton said that the Hon. Mr. McDonald had promised to have it published, but for some unknown reason it had not been done. The meeting also decided to urge upon the Minister for Agriculture tho imperative need for procuring adequate supplies of superphosphates. It was stated .that it was practically impossible to obtain supplies in the Wairarapa at the present time. An interesting address was given by Mr. F. B. Ward, of the Department of Agricultural, and the recently appointed officer for the Wairarapa district. Mr. Ward spoke regarding the necessity of a thorough knowledge of the soilß, and incidentally tho proper grasses for them. At the conclusion of his address the speaker received a very hearty vote of thanks.
