A FLATTERING RECEPTION.

Mr. Lloyd Goorgp's reception at tho Liberal meeting, showed that his personal not impaired. He had a great ovation, his opening address being punctuated by cheers. There were 116 members procsnt.
Mr. Lloyd George did not use the word "fusion" in his address, which was mainly a plea for the continuance of the Coalition, on tho ground of the peril that the country to face, as well as the gamble of Socialism. He continued to say that there would be real danger in a conflict between tho Liberals and Unionists of the Socialists snatching a temporary majority. The Socialists were beginning by demanding nationalisation of industries. "If tried," said Mr. Lloyd George, " this experiment in Socialism would fail, but it would be very harmful, because once commercial prosperity departs it rarely comes back again, so our peril is great."
THE PREMIER CRITICISED,

Tho Harmsworth newspapers sharply criticise Mr. /Lloyd George for identifying Labour with Socialism, and urge that it is a false aid dangerous doctrine, for % proclaims class -warfare.
FUSION NOs POPULAR.
Eeceived Last Night, 11.30 o'clock. LONDON, March 17.
The meeting between' Mr. Lloyd George and the Coalition Liberal Ministers showed that Mr. Lloyd George had strong feeling against tho proposed fusion with the Unionists.' There would be several Liberal resignations if the scheme were persisted
A number of Unionist peers have also objected to the fusion. R is likely that Mr. Lloyd Georgfl's scheme will be considerably modified.
