LAWN TENNIS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The matches between Beamisn and Lowe and the Canterbury lawn tennis representatives were continued in fine weather, and before a large attendance. In the singles, Lowe beat Olliver 6—4, 6—2, and Beamish beat Greenwood 6—2, 6— 3. Lowe kept a magnificent length, and many of his 'shots were unplayable. He strained a leg half-way through the first set, but this handicap did not seriously affect his play. There were some brilliant exchanges in the second set, but Lowe's tactics were superb, and Olliver. was frequently played into a hopeless position. - Beamish did not have much difficulty in defeating Greenwood. The latter made mistakes in the first set, but put up a plucky fight in the second, and frequently passed Beamish at the net. In the doubles, Lowe and Beamish beat Olliver and Greenwood, 6--3, 6-2, 9-7. In the first two sets the visitors had the advantage, their playing very often being unanswerable. Tho third was a very exciting game,, and was marked by brilliant tennis. At one stage the scores were 7—7, but in the two final, games the visitors showed to, advantage, and won the set and the match.
