A distressing fatality occurred on the Matawhero polo ground this afternoon. During the course of a match between the JSangaheia and Poverty Bay Clubs, Mr Ralph nolds,' a ■ member of the- Mangaheia team, ag thfe' result of his ponjffallf had the- baße of ' liis skUll through The pumttiel *• of thie> saddle striking liini on the head. .Tie player died within a few minutes. The deceased, wno was only 32 years of age, was one of the best ■ polo players in the Poverty Bay disti ict.
