FINANCING STRIKES.
Now that the watersiders' and seamen's strike is over, • we . presume that the officials of the Labour Federation will have no objection to publishing a balance-sheet, showing financial support came from, 'and where the money has gone. It is due to the country workers, who made levies .upon -themselves, ■ and who contributed privately, that, they should have the fullest information on this subject. It would also be interesting to know just how much has been lost in wage* during the nine weeks of the strike. If this information were given, it would assist
the public in forming an estimate of what an industrial upheaval costs the worker. The Defence Committee might, also enlighten the public a little", by showing how imch"it has cost the ■country outside the wages bill and the Government contribution of £IOO,OOO. We believe that if the figures on both sides were given, even approximately, the information would astound the public.
