VICTORIAN POLITICS.

Victorian politics are in the meltingpot. A few days ago Mr Watte resigned because an adverse .vote . had been carried against his Ministry. A Labourite was then sent for in Mr Elmslie, and, lie succeeded _in forming a Cabinet, but as he was in a minority in the House, it was hopeless for him to expect to carry on. The Assembly has now passed a resolution asking for a dissolution, and an appeal to the electors would" seem to be the only method of restoring the political equilibrium. In the meantime, the Labour minority have secured an advantage in that they will go to the country as the lf\st party in power. Whether they will succeed in converting a minority into a majority at the polls, remains to be seen. Victoria has never been as .strong on t!ie Labour qestioun as New South Wales. „ -
