The treasurer reported that the receipts since the last meeting had been £l2lO 19s 3d, and the expenditure £759 14s Id, leaving a balance of £451 5s 2d in the bank. The Buller Hospital and Charitable Aid Board wrote in connection with the advisability of fdrming an association of Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards. It was decided to favour the formation of an association as suggested. /. In connection with the central committee's recommendation that all patients be charged 9s per day, and .that those unable to pay the full fee, to make application to the committee for a rebate, the chairman moved that the clause be deleted. He favoured the old system of 9s maximum and 4s minimum. Nine shillings a day was too much for working.man to pay. Further, as patients were largely ot the travelling class., difficulty would be experienced in collecting the fees after patients had left the hospital. Mr Jackson seconded the motion. Mr Ewington suggested that the clause be referred back to the committee for a further report thereon. Mr Cameron said that they did not expect a working man to pay 9s per day, but the committee desired to be in a position to judge whether a mail was poor or not. Many poor people did not pay anything towards their keep in the hospital—they were not able to. . The amendment was earned on tliceaating vote of the chairman. Mr H. F. Green, secretary, applied for permission to take outside cleric cal work. The secretary said thfet the work would occupy an hour per day. Mr Robinson moved, and Mr Dawson seconded, that the application be granted. The Medical Superintendent of the Rotorna Sanatorium wrote, recommending two weeks' further treatment to a patient in that institution. —Granted. The reports of Finance, Central, and District Nurse Committees, and the board's Health Inspectors, were read and adopted.
