PERSONAL.
Mr A- H. Herbert, of, Eketahuna, was a visitor to Masterton yesterday. The funeral of the late Mr John Cundy took place at'the Featherston Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, a very large procession of vehicles and pedestrians following the remains of the deceased to the graveside. The burial service.was read by the-Rev G. K.Stowell. At yesterday's meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, Miss Wilkinson, at present acting-matron, was appointed permanently to 'the position. _ Miss Wilkinson was appointed senior-sister at tho Masterton Hospital in May, 1913, and for a considerable-part of this period she acted as matron-in-charge of the institution. Sir William Lever, head of the great firm of soapmakers and founder of the garden village of Port Sunlight, on the banks of the Mersey, has left England for, a visit to New Zealand. He may be expected in Wellington about the 2nd January, 1914. Tfie Mayor (Mr J. P. Luke) has just received a private letter from Sir William in regard to the visit, and hopes that during the stay in New Zealand of the visitor he may have time to become acquainted with the different phases of the national life of the Dominion.—Post.
