THE IMPORTANCE OF PATIENCE.
Patience is'really tho capacity fan and habit of suffering. It is shewn, by the serenity with which we submit to the annoyances caused us by others on the one hand, and is displayed in $ wider and, deeper sense by the fortitude which one exliibitg in all the concerns of life; in? good and bad 'fortime. It is an unfortunate <:liaracteristic of many energetic and •.•really high-minded men J that they , cannot await the issue of [events; they are impatient of delav,".must see events, result to their hiving at a stroke, as it were, and therefore their efforts in life iind in disappointment to themselves and to ■others. Like tlie.squirrel in the cage, they make much movement, but no progress./ On the other hand, there' is occasionally 'brought into high relief a patient man who grasps, and holds, in spite of'the greatest obstacle, 1 a 'success so gratifying] that, hia endurance and the rejsult of it # are an inspiration to the world.
