THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
"THE TWIN SISTERS."
Another large audience was present at the. Thompson-Payne Theatre last night, when the programme screened had a fine reception. The star turn, "The Twin Sisters," which is 3500 feet in length is a masterpiece in plot and acting, ildlle. Hesperia, the noted Cines artiste, quite excels herself in her rendering of a difficult part. "When Men Forgot" was a pathetic Selig production in which' farno brought tragedy into an artist's life. "In the •Hands of Blacklegs" was an interesting and rather exciting Kalem subject which proved immensely popular, Miss Alice Joyce taking the lead in her usual unequalled style. "A Woman's Love" was an interesting Lubin drama, which showed how a woman's better thoughts won "the day. Numerous subjects included: "The Cognac Industry," "Views of. Capua," "The New Cook," and "Swift Love and Fire." A big matinee programme will be given at 2.30 on Saturday afternoon. For Saturday evening the main attraction will be "The Fatal Handkerchief," a clever society romance.
TOWN HALL PICTURES.
"ENGINE OF DESTRUCTION,"
The "Engine of Destruction'' series of pictures at the Town Hall was largely patronised last evening, assisted materially by those bpghtentertainers Frank May and Millicent Mowbray, a most enjoyable 'evening' waa spent. The latter pair gave a bright, clever and interesting performance, which was entirely appreciated by all present. "Engine of Destruction'" must be regarded as one of the mojst thrilling films', yet presented, and at times the audience was raised to a high.pitch of enthusiasm by the thrilling episodes so vividly portrayed. Nor were the supporting items far behind from the point of general excellence, lovers of comedy, drama, educational or industrial features being equally well catered for. This fine programme will be concluded this " evening, and tomorrow another big special change will be submitted, the management having gone to much expense to pro-, aure a series of films,, such as have been creating a furore in Australian cities. An exceptionally brilliant entertainment, therefore be anticipated. On Saturday afternoon a superb matinee performance will be. pre-, sented for the little one's.
