A WOODVILLE INCIDENT.
TWO MEN CAUSE TROUBLE
(By TeUgravh—Press Association.) WOODVILLE Last Night. A man who claimed to represent Labour, the Feds., and several other things, took possession of Main Street last night, 'and soon had a crowd around him. Ho appeared to be a man who cduld talk till further orders, and had a wonderful flow of language. People stood his language for over an hour, but when lie called the returned troopers a lot. of thieves, several of the csowd went fori: him, and the police interfered. He remained. quiet for a few minutes, and then v asked the constable If he had anything against him. When the oonstable replied in the negative, he wanted to shake hands, which the constable refused to do.. The man then struck the constable. He was arrested, and with assistance conveyed to the lock-up. But this man had a mate, who immediately became aggressive, and used bad language. He was a man over six feet, and it took six citizens to carry him to gaol. Both men appeared before justices this morning, charged with being drunk, and with assaulting a constable. They were ccinvieted and discharged on the first charge, and were fined 20s or twenty-f jur hours on the second.
