TWO MORE STEAMEKS HELD UP

PAINTERS AND DOCKERS TAKE

A HAND

(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY, November 30. The latest additions to the list of vessels held up are the Aorangi and Ulimaroa, which, were advertised to sail .yesterday for Wellington. The Ulimaroa has 350 passages booked.

• The ship-painters and dockers have taken a hand by refusing to dock the Makura. This has* led to the * calling of a meeting of the Iron-trade Workers' Federation for to-morrow to consider the attitude to be adopted by all affiliated Unions. >

BIG LABOUR GATHERING.

HELD IN; SYDNEY

THE PROCEEDINGS SECRET. -^

(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY, November 30. One of the most representative union gatherings held in Sydney for many, years was held yesterday at the headquarters of the Seamen's Union, to discuss the position on the waterfront. Among the unions represented were the Federated Seamen's Union of Australasia, the Waterside Worker*' Federation, the Coal Xumpers' Union, the Northern and Southern Colliery Employees' Unions, the Australasian Society of Engineers, the Federated Furniture Trade, the Australasian Workers' Union, the Amalgamated Railway and Tramway Service, the Railway Workers' and General Labourers'" Association, the Merchants'' Service Giuld- of Australasia, and the Australasian-Federa-tion of Labour. The meeting commenced;* at 11 cJclbck in the morning, Mr W; M. Hughes, presiding-.., -•' '- The proceedings were conducted with the greatest- secrecy. • The meeting 'adjourned at "6 o'clock m the evening until Monday moraine, when the Seamen's Union will also meet. ', [it is not clear whether the above meeting; was called to consider the position in regard to the New Zealand strike. The composition of the gathering would indicate that it is more concerned about the New. South Wales elections than about, strike matters.}.

THE AORANGI SAILS

ULIMAROA STILL HELD UP

DIFFERENCE AMONG UNIONISTS

Received This Morning, 12.25 o'clock

/: SYDNEY, November 30. Ihe steamer Aorangi got away .it 2 o'clock this, afternoon with a. scratch crew. The Aorangi's crew refused to take the'vessel out. It is sFated that they have thus committed a breach of agreement. The Ulimaroa is tied up, awaiting the result of the conference of th2 Seainen's Union to-morrow.

Regarding the attitude" towards this vessel, it is understood that if the crew finally refuse to man her, no attempt will be made to raise a. scratch crew.

There are apparently two parties among the unionists, one consider it advisable to "confine their. embargo to the Union Company's vessel at present. \yhile the other contends that the Shipping. Companies are so bound together that to allow any vessel to trade with New Zealand would indirectly assist tlio Union Company. The Waipori arrived at Newcastle on Saturday from Bfawke's. Bay for coal. , The coal-trimmers boycotted the vessel, but it is expected that she will,, get away early bn Tuesday short-loaded. .< , -i
