SERIOUS INCIDENT.

AT A MILITARY CAMP.

(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY. Nov. 30.

A serious incident occurred last night at a military camp near Liverpool township, which had been proclaimed out of bounds, with a view to) preventing the men from going there to get liquor. A party, which had no permission to leave camp, walked to George's river bridge, where it was blocked by a picket numbering ten, carrying side-arms only. The picket ordered them back. Some obeyed, but others remained, and their numbers being gradually augmented, a non-commissioned officer in charge summoned assistance. Determined rushe swere made against the picket meanwhile, but they stood firm until they w«re finally carried for thirty yards. A relief party arrived with fixed bayonets, and advanced with their bayomets at slope, which caused the rebels to back away to the other end of the bridge, where they made a stand and challenged the relief party to como on.

The opposing parties were within a few feet of each other, and a collision seemed •imminent. A second relief party soon arrived. Brigade-Major Captain Bilton had meanwhile gone among the rebels, ordering the men to keep cool, in a .commanding voice, and go back. An officer gave the order "slope rflrms," which saved the situation, as the sight of bayonets at the charge was helping to inflame the rebels.

Captain Bilton's persuasive powers were successful, and the man returned *b the lines, leaving the arxed party ju command of the faiwlge;
