MARTINBOROUGH RAILWAY.
j Nobody at this/enfl of the district .will i take exception to Martinborough being given railway facilities. What the whole of ; the Wairarapa wants to know, however, is why there is no mention in the Public Works Estir mates of either the Klmutaka deviation or the East Coast railway. The deviation is a-most important undertaking,.'so. far aa this district is conand the Martinborough railway bears an.important' relation to it. We have previously stated, and we state, again, that before the Govr eminent expends money upon the Martinborough line, it should discover a route for the deviation of the Rimutaka railway, and ,-nake; the two schemes dovetail. Unless this course is pursued, the Dominion will sniffer a, heavy loss. The business men of Wellington and the Wairarapa will have to get to work again if they wish their backblocks country to he speedily opened up.
