Sage, for many years in business in Masterton as a tent and sail maker, and now resident in Hawera, is at present on a visit to this town. Dr N. Prior, of Masterton, was, -married at Melbourne yesterday to Miss Elizabeth Teague, daughter of the late Rev. Teague, of Hobart and jMelbourne. ..( Mr WTO. Lysnar, of the board of %Urectora of the Bristol and Dominions Producers' Association, arrived . in Masterton last nfght. He proceeds to Napier to-day. Mr J. Hammond, the New Zealand aviator, arrived home in Feilding on Wednesday. He will stay there for a little while, and will ijhen probably return to England. Major T. W." McDonald, of the New Zealand Staff "Corps, who is wellknown in Masterton, is returning from England by £ the Orsoya, which is due at Auckland on October 24th. Mr J. Georgeson, formerly of Masterton, but now of the Dunedin office of the Labour Department, is at pre- . gent assisting in the inspection of the "accommodation provided for shearers in Hawke's Bay. XMr C. G. Macartney, the well-: .mnbwn cricketer, who foured America N ls a member of the Australian team, was a passenger by the Makura from Vancouver to Auckland on Tuesday. His destination is Sydney. Mr M. A. Eliott, President of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce, and a member of tho firm.of Mellsop, Elliott and Co., was a visiter to Masterton yesterday. He returns to Palmerston this morning. Mr A. Hawke, Fdxton's new postmaster, came from Marton, where he lias been stationed for upwards of a quarter of a century, and was held in high esteem by all sections of the public in that BTstrict. Mr Hawke is n native of Greytown, Wairarapa, a son of one of the pilgrim fathers, and / of a family whose prowess unle cricket and football fields" is known throughojit the Dominion. : Like his brother, Mr Hawke has been a representative cricketer for many -years. .:'■ '
