ENTHUSIASM AT GREYMOUTH.
GOVERNMENT CONGRATULATED
GREYMOUTH, Last Night. A large and enthusiastic meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held to-night, when the following resolution was passed, and a copy forwarded to the Premier and the Hon. A. L. Herdman:—"That this meeting congratulates you on the action your Government has taken in upholding the laws of the country, ana on your encteavour to keep the channels of commerce open during the present crisis, and also expresses continued confidence in your action dnd their willingness to assist in every direction."' A further, resolution was also fonvarded to the Premier: "That this chamber is heartily in accord with the arbitration movement, and expresses tiie hope that the" Government will remain firm to that principle."
At a largely attended meeting of the Rotomanu branch of the West Coast Farmers' Union, presided over by Mr Wheeler, viCe-president of the Westland Provincial Executive,* the 'following resolution was carried •nnanimously:—''While regretting Me strike, we are in favour of maintaining law and order, • and •recbgsise tnatf every man has a right toj.worir as he sees fit. We are prepared;''at. any time to assist those <workerk and to help if need be to protect them whilst they are working."
